In photos shared by Hola! magazine, Malia could be seen joining a friend for a laidback Labor Day lunch in Los Angeles’s Los Feliz neighborhood. The 28-year-old filmmaker exuded cool-girl energy in timeless basics, going braless in a scoop-neck white tank top. She paired the effortless staple with a pair of low-rise oversized black jeans, showing off a glimpse of her divisive Y2K-coded sandals: A pair of black flip-flops.

Slinging an oversized black leather purse over one shoulder, Malia added a pair of black sunglasses after she enjoyed an afternoon meal at Little Dom’s. The Heart director upped the ante on her look with her hair, styling her hip-grazing auburn red hair in a half-up style that’s reminiscent of her mom Michelle.

Like the former first lady, Malia showed off darker roots with braids along her hairline and curly face-framing tendrils. Her fiery locks were pulled back away from her face at the top, but still cascaded down her back in soft mermaid waves.

Malia recently joined her parents and her little sister Sasha, 25, for a rare Obama family appearance at a dedication ceremony ahead of the opening of the Obama Center in Chicago. During the June 18 event, the Harvard graduate coordinated with her mom in a plunging gray blazer minidress, which she paired with a tiny black skirt underneath.
